Technical Bulletin: March 31, 2021
Crate Racin’ USA Officials have decided to make an update and amend the date for the 2021 CRUSA “spec”/sealed shock rule in the Thunder Bomber Division Rules.
The original date for all cars to be equipped with the Crate Racin’ USA certified shocks, April 1st, 2021 is going to be adjusted to now be enforced May 1, 2021. The reason for the adjustment is the inability to fully stock and supply competitors, tracks, and dealers with the certified shock due to shortages in inventory and supply chain shortfalls.
“We have made the tough decision to push back the official date as a result of the shortfall in getting shocks in stock from the manufacturer,” stated Crate Racin’ USA Series Director Adam Stewart. “We have been staying ahead of the orders and keeping inventory, but due to circumstances out of the control of both Crate Racin’ USA and Bilstein, we are currently awaiting the next full shipment to fulfill orders to competitors, track promoters, and parts dealers in the area.”
Along with the extension of the CRUSA shock deadline, officials have amended/clarified the shock that will be allowed for the Camaro/leaf spring cars which is the AK 1054. The original AK 1050 in the rules is suited for a different generation of leaf spring car and required alteration, and after consulting with the manufacturer the AK 1054 has been approved for sealing and serial number issue from Crate Racin’ USA.
"We hope this clears any confusion or concerns amongst the competitors who have been looking for definite answers, and our hope was to have an answer sooner but with the current supply chain issues facing many industries across the world we have had to make the decision out of necessity," stated Stewart.
"We appreciate everyone’s support and will be sending an update next week when the shocks are expected to be fully in stock and ready for shipment to everyone. We will see you at the races in 2021 and encourage everyone to get out and support your local CRUSA tracks!!"
